After merely four months, Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 was released in March 2015. In the short amount of time since it was released, this series has gained a mass amount of sales and recognition, titling it as one of the scariest games.

Five Nights at Freddy’s

Despite the booming popularity that this game received, there were also many criticisms alongside. You might think that since there’s only one main animatronic, the third game in the popular series shouldn’t be that hard to play. Don’t be fooled by the lack of presence in the game.

About the game

The main difference in this game compared to the previous, is the number of animatronics. Instead of the hefty amount of creepy robots, this game features the deadly Springtrap, an animatronic character who moves without being detected.

Although deciding to have one main antagonist, Scott Cawthon doesn’t forget about the old animatronics. Instead, they appear as phantoms to create jump-scares or turn off your camera. The main objective of this horror video game is to survive from midnight until 6 AM for five days without being caught by Springtrap.

Game plot

The third installment happens thirty years after the pizzeria has closed down.  Freddy’s Fazbears Pizza has turned into a horror amusement park to showcase the terrifying events that occurred.

The newly-hired employee has to keep the place under control during his night shift through the camera surveillance system in the office.

Camera system

Though still using the camera as the primary visual source, the screen is covered in static to make it hard for you to pay attention.

While being unable to pinpoint where Springtrap is clearly, this aspect makes the game much more exhilarating. To survive, you can use the camera system to open or close vents to cut the animatronic’s route.

Playing audio

As Springtrap moves in secret, you aren’t able to locate its whereabouts. However, you can use the set of audio devices to lure Springtrap into another room or away from you.

When you decide to close off a vent to stop Springtrap from getting closer, you also cut off the ventilation system from your office. If left for too long, your screen starts fading in and out, resulting in your character passing out. When you’re hallucinating, it’s the perfect opportunity for Springtrap to come and kill you.

As a well-rounded game, there doesn’t seem to be a time where you can take a break from all the surprises. The third game in the series balances tension and control perfectly.

Like the other Five Nights at Freddy’s games, there’s a considerable amount of jump-scares, and an unsettling soundtrack played across the game.

The unpredictability of this game heightens the level of tension, dubbing this the perfect match for anyone who wants to be scared. If you’re a fan of Five Nights at Freddy’s, you can play FNAF 3 for free online.
